Five good things this week

Here’s my list of things I’m grateful for this week:

  1. Change of ward to one that DOES NOT ADMIT EVERYDAY, HALLELUJAH. And a Ward Boss that I “get along and do not fight with”, hahaha.
  2. Not having had to shout at anyone in my clinic, or get shouted at. In fact, the young daughter of a patient I saw actually asked as they left my room, “Can we come back and see this doctor next time? She’s nice.” How amazing is that?
  3. Getting the price for my LV Mary Kate slashed to A$810 (from A$999.95 – good eh?). I ♥ the owner of this store! I cannot wait to receive my new baby – probably sometime next week. Hubba-hubba-hubba.
  4. Saving (most probably) a few hundred dollars by not making it to the Kate Spade warehouse sale before they sold out. OK, this is couching something negative in positive terms. Seriously, what was billed as a three-day sale sold out in three freaking hours. Bah. Next time I will take leave and get there an hour before the damn thing starts. On the flip side, that means I still have ammo in my Bag Fund.
  5. This lean mean machine: NespEditWhaddat? Well may you ask. It’s what keeps body and sanity together on weekdays. It’s a Nespresso machine, shared with my new Ward Boss. Woohoo. There’s nothing like the smell of freshly-brewed coffee to keep people happy, is there?

am happy that work seems less of a drag for you now. PTL~ and thanks again for coming to watch the show last night.. yayy. happy to see u guys.

last but not least.. about the Kate Spade sale.. like WHAT?! really, 3hrs?? it’s no wonder our nation has the reputation of being kiasu. sighsie.

AGREED. The thing started at 9 and I managed to get there about 12ish… and there was a sign saying they’d sold out! I do remember reading somewhere that they only had 300+ bags, so I suppose a good morning crowd would have wiped it all out. They did say that the next sale would be 3 – 5 Dec, but I think the only way of getting anything is to start queuing way BEFORE it opens. Too bad I can’t take leave that day. Are there any particular designs you’re eyeing? :)

Thanks for asking us to the show! My favourite was the 4th item. And you looked really good last night too. :)

        heee… thankew thankew *curtsy*

i like 4th item too. it was choreographed by my 小老板, aka 2IC. the rest was abit *ahem*. think mr manx elaborated in his msg to me via FB, which i share sentiments with. ladidaa..

        i dun hv a KS design in mind right now. but it’s definitely one of my targets when i finally hit US of A. much cheaper there. (;

Ooh, must tell me when you go!

I really like these posts! I’m also so glad you are enjoying your new ward, though we totally miss you. I would be counting the days until I take vacation, but I think ~100 days or so is pretty depressing.

I had to look up “kiasu”.

I also think it’s ridiculous that you don’t get recognized (and appreciated) for being a nice (and generally awesome) doctor every single day. I certainly recognized (and appreciated) you each day :)

Gosh, I am cheesy. Sorry. There has to be some clever Singaporean slang for the way I’m being, but “ang moh”, “tai-tai”, and “kiasu” don’t really seem to apply…

Okay, I just realized that saying I “recognized” you each day makes it sound like I am demented and flit in and out of awareness. Awesome.

Y’know, some things, if you don’t point them out, people would never even have thought of. :)

Have you read the Wiki entry on Singlish? It’s quite a jaw-dropper.
