Sick & busy

After writing yesterday’s post, I think that I may be the one coming down with the fever. I had a miserable night because my throat was itchy and my nose all stuffed up, despite the many meds I took before going to bed. Today I don’t have much voice and am using a lot of tissue paper, and now I have diarrhea and body aches as well, and probably a bit of fever.

The best part is that I have a heavy afternoon clinic today, followed by night call, which means I get to stay in hospital till tomorrow evening. Hurray and happiness (I must practice altruism because the lack of it, according to senior management, is the reason us junior docs are unhappy – it is all our own selfish fault – we ought to be carrying placards that say “Please gang-rape me for your kind satisfaction”). And so many people have left the hospital that there is no point trying to find cover so that I can go on medical leave. Doctors really aren’t allowed to fall sick, are they? No matter. I shall see how many people I can infect in the name of good service.

First of all, I am very sorry to hear that you are sick–I hope the stars and planets align to bring you a light call, as calls go.

Secondly, I feel quite lucky that no one has asked me to be altruistic. Like that would happen!

In the interest of trying to be more altruistic, please let me know if you would like more Froot Loops. I believe they contain some vitamin C, which may help you get well sooner :)

Thank you, Vric! Froot Loops = good; Fruit Farm = bad.
