My MEME! Mememememememe…

August 4, 2009 at 11:50 10 comments

Purplejake, queen of humour and heartbreak in prosaic details (and who has my favourite colour in her blogname!), tagged me to do a MEME. A what? A Me-Me. A questionnaire about moi, which – dunno about you – is the subject closest to my megalomanic heart. Who doesn’t love a turn on a stage where you can choose never to hear a boo?

So here are my answers to these ten questions, which I hope you have fun reading. I certainly had fun writing them!

1. Who is the hottest movie star?

JOHNNY DEPP!!!

2. Apart from your house and your car what is the most expensive thing you’ve ever bought?

Mah friggin’ eddicayshun. I think that if I added up all my salary ever earned thus far, it would still not come up to the amount the local university charged for my degree. I HAVE BEEN PAYING $$$ TO GO THROUGH THESE SIX YEARS OF CRAP. ELEVEN IF YOU COUNT THE UNI YEARS. ARRRGHHHHH!!!

3. What’s your most treasured memory?

For the sheer antiquity of the moment – my first conscious memory (possibly modified out of recognition after all these millenia). I remember lying on my back, looking at my own stubby legs waving in the air, and thinking what a good idea it’d be to get those chubby little toes inside my mouth. I do have a picture of me succeeding.

4. What was the best gift you ever received as a child?

Love. <Laughs> … <Cries> …

5. What is the biggest mistake you’ve made?

In lieu of the actual answer, I shall say that the silliest thing I ever did was to pull all the lashes off my right eye – and only my right eye – when I was about ten. I still don’t know why. I did learn, though, that eyelashes are very conspicuous when they are not there.

6. 4 words to describe myself.

Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak! (Sighs at the aptness)

7. What was my highlight or lowlight of 2008?

Highlight – a heavily-sponsored conference to Tokyo that I expanded into a lovely holiday. Oishi ne!

Lowlight – both my cats going to kitty heaven after 13 years together. Lowlight of the decade.

8. Favourite film?

Probably Benny & Joon. JOHNNY DEPP!!! <is dragged away leaving trail of claw marks on the floor>

9. Tell me one thing I don’t know about you.

I’m totally envious of girls who are naturally hair-free. No, wait, that didn’t come out right. I mean girls who don’t have to pick up a razor every time they want to wear a sundress. I could be proof that there are gorillian traces in human DNA after all.

10. If you were a comic book/strip or cartoon character, who would you be?

Teen Titans’ Raven. A hooded, half-demonic empath who can never really stay dead? Yeah, that’s me.

So that’s my MEME. Ta-dah. I do have to ask Purplejake – how do you tag someone else whom you want to do a MEME? I have some victims in mind… mwahahahahahaha…

Hello again, Katie. I’m just back from two weeks’ holiday in Paradise, sorry, I mean rural Italy. Feeling fat, happy and rested but have been totally out of electronic touch with everything and everyone – which was, in a way, actually very refreshing. Anyway, in answer to your question, if you want to tag someone, just write that you’re doing so on one of your posts and then perhaps visit their blog and leave a comment to let them know you’ve done so…
And by the way, purple has always been my favourite colour. I didn’t know it was yours too!

Hey there Purplejake, good to know you had a great trip. I was wondering what happened to you! Yes, purple is my favourite colour (notwithstanding TinkyWinky from the Teletubbies).

Would you happened to have gone to Melbourne? I remember you saying that you went to Australia recently. If you have – any advice? I’m headed there in a few weeks.

Ah, Melbourne… funny you should ask as there’s been a lot of talk about that city in our household over the past few months but no, wrong continent – we were in Italy. I can tell you, tho, that I have talked to many folks who either hail from there or have lived there and not one person has a bad thing to say about it. In fact they all rave about it. I’m very jealous – please take lots of pix and tell us all about your visit when you get back.
And Dipsy was always my favourite, btw!

Oh, I thought you mentioned going to Australia in your Meme, that’s why I asked. :)

Yep – you’re right about Australia in 08 – but we were in Western Australia and didn’t make it across to the east. Shame – I really wanted to visit Melbourne (more so than Sydney, actually) but didn’t get that far! When are you going?

In a month. CANNOT WAIT TO GET AWAY!
